I am happy this seems to be a good idea (so far!) For the time at hand feel free to post issues you would like the club to consider. The Board members would like to hear from you. Be nice, nobody wants to get a bunch of cr$p every time they try and do the right thing. What that means is put what you think down here in honest and clean language. We will listen and try and make you happy. If we can't do that, Sorry! (life's tough!) We do aim to please. .......................

In the last few days our guestbook has had to do battle with spammers that would post all kinds of stuff we don't want or need. We stated in the beginning that this guestbook is a test. And although we like the guestbook, it may have to go away if our efforts to curb the idiots who do these things fail. What comes around does go around however! Get our drift out there? A little more than a box of shells might be good. We do need to keep it within reason however. Otherwise the shoot price might get a little steep. We did offer a meal, and more than a couple of prizes in addition to the "box of shells" spoken of. We might try a best shirt trophy I guess (buy it once and keep it in the showcase with the new winners name each year?) Personally a box of shells shoots better for me! How bout' a ticket for a round or two as well. Heaven! Just my thoughts, Rod I.

The boxes of shells were just for wearing the brightest colored shirts. There were other prizes for how well you placed in the shooting, and yes, there was lunch in there, too. I would rather keep the prizes conservative and keep the shooting fees low. I think we will encourage more marginal shooters and newer shooters by doing that. The club needs to do that to keep growing. One of the nice things about what we do is that we do it for fun. Make the prizes too prestigious and, yes, the competition will be more intense, but the fun might be gone.

For your info, half of the money collected for the Hawaiian Shirt Shoot went back to the shooters as prize money. The boxes of ammo were donated by me. At $22 for 4 rounds, with half the money going back to the shooters, I don't think there is much to complain about. However, for those of you who want better prizes, the next winner will receive a big hug and kiss from Henry. Bob Chang

I just renewed for my 3rd year in a row. I really enjoy the Pistol and Rifle ranges. I like the new web page. I really hope it keeps growing. I'd like to highly recommend a forum. Lot's of great freinds have been made on forums. Plus with a good moderator it can easily be safe and family friendly. I have never participated in any of the events. (a bit shy maybe) maybe getting to know other members online would help. The prospect of a cowboy action shooting club sounds interesting to me. Both the wife and I would probably be interested although we've never done it before. I'll be coming out to the sill shoot this coming weekend. It would sure be nice if some prices were posted for those of us who can't find their newsletters (grin). Anyway, great job keep it up. David Johnson Member since '04

Inland Gun Club is a place I have spent many years shooting at. I started shooting shotgun at Inland back in 1980, I think, taking out my first yearly membership and every year since. I remember the old Clubhouse it was rustic but cozy. I started shooting rifle in 1993 when I was getting back into BR. I shot every Friday for many years and enjoyed sharing my improvement with Chuck Maugle, the other RO at Inland. Thanks to my time practicing BR at Inland I was able to win several Calif State titles and top 5 finishes. Since I have been running BR Shoots at San Gabriel for 9 years I have not forgot the range I honed my skills at, Inland Gun Club. Thank's Inland for keeping a great range going especially with San Gabriel closing this Nov 5. Stephen Perry

I've been a member of the IFG for over 4 years now (but have been using the facility off and on for several more). Awhile back before the official IFG site was changed, I took a few hours to redesign a website. I'm not sure if the club board is satisfied with the site as it stands now, but if the board is interested, I can demo what I have. It's short on actual content, but the basic design and backend stuff has been written/ported. My goal for a redesign was to get it so that it uses both static and dynamic content. Dynamic content is fed from PHPBB (PHP based forum) and PHP-Calendar (PHP based calendar). It will allow multiple users to add content (ie: news, announcements, alerts, events, matches, shoots, etc.) that would be given authority (based on username/password authentication) to do so. If the IFG board is at all interested in this, email me at ocabj@ocabj.net. I have it developed and running on my laptop under apache/php/mysql, but I can easily transfer it to one of my publicly accessible Unix servers for demo if need be. I for one am extremely satisfied with the site and all the effort put forth by Mr Rod Ivy to create this new site and to keep it updated on a regular basis.Rod stepped forward and took control of our neglected, outdated site and is doing a fine job in keeping us updated. Not to mention all of Rod's work to wrestle control of this site and our domain name back into the hands of Inland. Mr ivy has asked for some volunteer help in keeping this site updated and maybe you could talk to him and offer your expertise. There's always room for volunteers that are commited to helping on a regular and consistant basis. Bill Fay

Mr. Ocab, Thank you for your interest in our club and site. If you have been following our progress from the past web presence, you may have noted that the new site is ever evolving. And is an infant in it's beginnings. I do not proclaim to be a web or computer expert and invite any help from those who do. I will even offer double what I am paid to spend the many hours to build and maintain this site! (and me as a hick in the boonies, you should understand how long that takes on dail-up. Yep no dsl,T1 etc. available here) As to our site abilities, we can allow others with password authorization etc. to update the site now. If you would like to have that ability, I encourage you to seek me out at the range for a personal talk. I welcome your abilities if they can forward our website and it's appeal. I am easy to find as I am at Inland most all Wed. league nights and often on the weekend. You will find my ugly mug shot on the board members page. .. (Bill, Thanks for your support.) RI

I just posted a general version of the mockup visible at http://ocabj.ucr.edu/ifg -- If it asks for a username and password, enter "ifg" without quotes for both the username and password. What's up there is just a generic layout without much content. The "events" and "news" stuff there is just sample content entered into the forum and calendar to simulate what it would look like. For example, moderators (specific users on the forum) would be able to post news in certain areas on the bulletin board and it would show up on the main page. Also, there is a PHP-Calendar backend so authorized users can go to the calendar administrator interface (http://ocabj.ucr.edu/ifg/calendar ) to enter events which could be then displayed on both the user visible calendar (see top menu of page) or on the mainpage. Basically, when I was making my own design, my goal was to simply reuse interfaces that were already written (ie: phpBB and php-calendar) that have web interfaces so anyone with little to no knowledge of backend web design can add content to the site (without the use of an FTP, SCP, SSH, etc program). As far as a picture gallery, I prefer Gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com/ ) which is what I use on my own personal site. Pictures can be uploaded via the web browser under managed categories. You can see an example of how Gallery looks at http://www.ocabj.net/gallery . But I do think a web forum, which you can see on the sample site, would be the most important addition to the IFG website if anything were to be added. It would make communication between club members easier. Plus, I think it would make announcements more frequent and easily communicated as opposed to the printed newsletter. Granted, I love getting the newsletter in the mail, but I think a lot of time and money could be saved by going with web based news rather than printing and postage for the hardcopy newsletter.

Howdy! Inland has approved and created a cowboy shooting club! The Plunge Creek Cowboys. . If you are interested in joining let us know. We need Cowboys to help put on our shoots and make this wagon roll. . The plan is to have a shoot Early in 2007. January would be best but February for sure. (we hope) . It will be a bare bones affair until we see if it will work out. It will not be held on the Cajon Cowboy shoot dates (cause some of us are members there as well) so you Cajon folks are welcome and wanted. Talk to Capt. Fox, Rico, Henry Hooker, Horace Falcon, or Deputy Deuce if you want to help. The list will grow soon You may also e-mail any board member or officer of Inland.

The site is very informative. However I didn't see anything about the yardages for rifle that you can shoot out to. Do you have a 200 yd range. If not what do you have or did I just not see it. Thank you. JB

Sorry JB. If you post on the forum you get a much more timely reply! Our rifle range has a Maximum distance of 200 meters for setable targets. We once had over twice that! At some point it was given back to BLM. Long ago. Too bad huh. IFG

Your website is quite interesting and imaginative. However, please do provide a forum for grievances. I will make (add) the following comment and I hope it's not received as "badmouthing." Please allow those of us who have to work Monday through Friday a chance to actually shoot on the weekends. Consider holding your "cowboy" and .22 / silhouette matches on weekdays or sacrifice your skeet / trap area to hold them in. Every other week the rifle range is closed to the public for one of the matches I previously indicated and it really is becoming quite frustrating. That having been said, the rifle range is a safe, clean and well kept place to spend time enjoying the outdoors and shooting. Ed

Ed, Your right. A forum is the place for your post. If you look at the buttons or menu to the left of the page you will see one that is titled 'Enter Forum'. Guess what is there! And it's been there quite a while. We hope you enjoy it. As far as the rifle and pistol range is concerned please note that it is now available during bench-rest and silhouette matches. The Cowboy shoot had the public on the range by 1:30. And please note that most of the match shooters work Monday through Friday as well. That includes the trap and skeet folks who also close their areas for matches on the weekends. A good alternative would be to come out and have some fun shooting in the matches.

I think this web site is really nice. As a twenty plus year member of the darkside I have always wondered what those guys were doing overthere in the dark, under the lights. Now I have a better idea. Talk about misguided - wow! Onelast item. I am sure it is a revalation but the darkside folks eat too -but never at IF&G. Maybe the clubhousebeing closed all the time has something to do with it. I went for the first time last night to IFG. The experience there was great. I had several members show me around, they gave me a quick lesson on range etiquette and I felt as though I had been going there for years. The trap fields are great. I like the fact you can shoot under the lights. I never knew this place existed. I hope to become a member soon enough. Thanks to the entire crew at IFG. By the way, the kitchen has some really good food for only $5.

The Trap and Skeet section of the site says the range is open, though shot size is limited. Someone forgot to tell the nice people at the range this. Drove out last Saturday to shoot and the clubhouse was locked and the trap houses were obviously out of commission. The site is pretty up to date. As the Trap area is 100% volunteer operated, they tend to wrap it up and go home in the afternoon if there are no shooters hanging around. I would suggest calling first, or coming out earlier in the day. There is operating trap still.

The trap range is open on field #1, on Wednesday mornings beginning at about 9am to noon, Wednesday evenings starting at about 5pm, Saturday mornings starting at 9am until the crowd thins out about 2-3pm(in winter but later in the spring and summer), and Sundays starting at 9:30am. We close down in the afternoons on weekends when there are no more shooters. People can always call the clubhouse at 909-793-4014 to check on the afternoon hours. Bob, Henry, Cliff and Al

I have not had any bad experiance with the range-masters at Inland. I am a life Member and do care what goes on there. If someone has such a bad issue why don't they/he/she take it to a board member. And if they insist on bad-mouthing whoever it was, at least have the guts to say what date they were at the range. Last week there were three different range-masters over seven days. How does anyone know who was the culprit. If there was a culprit. You can't please everyone. What do you want? Someone to kiss your *** or a bench to shoot from. Who cares what the 'check in' guy's attitude is. He don't sit your bench with you. I wonder where we will go to shoot now? Sorry, Turning into a rant. I am a regular shooter, and yes I know some of the guys. In my opinion, hey....it's your money, go elsewhere. Who cares that Inland needs you now. But you wouldn't know about that, would you. Crap, there I go again..... Sorry HF

When I was looking for a rifle range to join, it was your website that hooked me and the price. The range itself is meat and potatoes and I love it; peaceful, well structured, safety comes first, and the rangemasters run a tight ship! May I suggest selling T-shirts for members to represent our pride in the Rifle Range!? Eric L.

Inland has offered tee's for years! But in the last few years they seem to be based on events and not the club. (they are on closeout in the clubhouse as we converse)

Your idea is a good one, Inland Should Have a tee that promotes the whole association.

Thanks for the comments, in these times they are refreshing. We will work on the tee's.

Hi, Great looking website. I live in Ridgecrest, CA. I may come and visit your trap range. I was wondering what the "Warchest" is all about. Is there talk of closing the operation? Thank You, Al Melendy-Zahn zahnal@hotmail.com

The operation is fine. The war chest is a legal defense and construction fund. It offsets costs of unexpected bumps in life's road and when no obstruction exists we use it to expand our non-profit association.

I am very impressed with the amount of information on your web site. My son and I finally convinced my wife to allow us to purchase a few small caliber weapons, but are having a heck of a time trying to find a location in Southern California that allows any sort of target shooting. My son "Googled" for legal locations in our area and found yours. We have plans on visiting and hope we can find someone that can answer our questions. Thank you.
